About

About Newid

Newid pronounced "Nowed" is Welsh for change. I chose this name not only to reflect my heritage but also to reflect that change is the only constant in life.  We all travel with it, yet all our experiences can be profoundly different.

My name is Andy, I am a professionally trained Humanistic Integrative Therapist and Supervisor.

I work in private practice and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and a Accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

I work with older children & adults on a one to one counselling basis in a relaxed, peaceful setting within a 15 minute walk from Tiverton's thriving centre, with quaint cafe's and individual shops.

Before going into private practice I was within the NHS. This experience has proven to deliver some of the most extensive and diverse training to date.

As I've grown and developed my private practice, through my training, taking ideas. Expanding them in ways that have introduced a gentleness, that allows playfulness within therapy and supervision.

Expanding emotions/trauma and difficult experiences doesn't always need to be approached directly. Being a integrative therapist means we draw on all the theory's, finding the right approach for you and discovering the tools that will help you to navigate through or to light up a different path.

I am a qualified, experienced therapist. I adhere to a strict ethical framework set out by the BACP (Brisish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and The National Counselling Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), who continually regulate for good practice. I am fully insured and DBS checked for your own peace of mind.

Adhering to these values ensures that I work consistently, with my client's best interests always forming the structure of my work.

Creative, Safe, Practical &
             Mindful Space to Discover Self
In The Heart Of Mid Devon

One to One

I offer Individual therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counselling”) this is a process through which we work one-to-one in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. We explore your feelings, beliefs, or behaviours and work through challenging or influential memories.  This can help you to identify aspects of your life that you would like to change, or perhaps better understand yourself and others, set personal goals and work toward a desired change. The session's are guided by you, it is your safe space to explore wherever you feel the need to go.

Innovative

Applying new, forward thinking ideas to psychotherapy "Ecotherapy" is a new and Innovative theory which means ‘restoring wellbeing through contact with nature'. From my present location close to the Grand Western Canal & old railway line  I am able to offer the option of walking and talking or just sitting, absorbing nature to help create movement with difficult emotions. Often clients find new awareness's that help guide them through. Integration of this theory can be very beneficial in helping anxiety and depression.

Mental Wellbeing Tips

Now is the time to connect to people around you, build relationships that you can trust and feel safe within them.

Everyday be active, try a walk or find an activity that can become part of your routine.

Where are you? Being mindful in the present moment will help you to build awareness's of where you are in life and help you to make positive changes where you need to.

Independently reach out to find help when needed. This can take a lot of courage so be gentle with yourself within this process.

Don't forget your GP, they will talk with you, helping you to understand different approaches, helping you to make the right choice for you.
