Relationships
Healthy relationships are a vital component of health and wellbeing. There is compelling evidence that strong relationships contribute to a long, healthy and happy life. Conversely, the health risks from being alone or isolated in one's life are comparable to the risks associated with cigarette smoking, blood pressure and obesity.

As the saying goes, "prevention is better than cure", this is certainly the case when it comes to maintaining good relationships. Understanding what we are doing currently that is keeping the relationship healthy and what traps to avoid falling into is a great inoculation against relationship deterioration. This is particularly so when it comes to a love relationship.

Everyone has areas of strength and weakness – it’s a normal part of being human. Recognizing this and taking steps in self development can make a world of difference to your relationships.
Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
Physical fitness is not the sole basis of being healthy; being healthy means being mentally and emotionally fit. Being healthy should be part of your overall lifestyle. Living a healthy lifestyle can help prevent chronic diseases and long-term illnesses. Feeling good about yourself and taking care of your health are important for your self-esteem and self-image. Maintain a healthy lifestyle by doing what is right for your body.

Good nutrition is often the first line of defence to avoid many diseases and is one of the most natural ways to keep and maintain a healthy mind. A well-balanced diet provides all of the following.
-
energy you need to keep active throughout the day
-
nutrients you need for growth and repair, helping you to stay strong and healthy and help to prevent diet-related illness
Keeping active and eating a healthy balanced diet can also help you to maintain a healthy weight and mind.

Newid works closely with a qualified nutritionist and personal trainer and we are able improve your knowledge, diet and physical fitness helping you to achieve your personal goals, whether physical or mental.
Disclaimer: Always check with your GP about your condition before any changes are made to your diet, or lifestyle.
Understanding Trauma
Trauma is a type of damage to the mind that occurs as a result of a distressing event. This is often the result of an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds one's ability to cope, or integrate the emotions involved with that experience.Trauma may result from a single distressing experience or recurring events of being overwhelmed that can be precipitated in weeks, years or even decades as a person struggles to cope with the immediate circumstances, eventually leading to serious, long-term negative consequences.

Because trauma differs between individuals according to their subjective experiences, people will react to similar traumatic events differently. In other words, not all people who experience a potentially traumatic event will actually become psychologically traumatized. However, it is possible for some people to develop Post Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) after being exposed to a major traumatic event. Here at Newid we can help you further explore traumatic events that continue to cause distress and help you work through them.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment. Aware of where we are and what we’re doing, not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.

While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis.
Whenever you bring awareness to what you’re directly experiencing via your senses, thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. And there’s growing research showing that when you train your brain to be mindful, you’re actually remodeling the physical structure of your brain.
