About

About Newid

Newid — pronounced "Nowed" — is the Welsh word for change. I chose this name not only to reflect my heritage, but to honour a simple truth: change is the only constant in life. We all travel alongside it, yet each of our experiences can be profoundly different.

My name is Andy. I am a professionally trained Humanistic Integrative Therapist and Supervisor.

I work in private practice and hold membership with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and accredited membership with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

I work with older children and adults on a one-to-one basis in a relaxed, peaceful setting — just a 15-minute walk from Tiverton town centre, with its charming cafés and independent shops.

Before moving into private practice, I worked within the NHS — an experience that provided some of the most extensive and diverse training of my career.

As my practice has grown, so too has my approach. Through ongoing training and curiosity, I have developed a gentleness within my work that allows for playfulness in both therapy and supervision. Exploring emotions, trauma, and difficult experiences does not always require a direct approach. As an integrative therapist, I draw on a broad range of theories and techniques to find what is right for you — discovering the tools that will help you navigate what you're facing, or illuminate an entirely different path forward.

I adhere to the strict ethical frameworks set out by the BACP and the NCPS, both of which continually regulate for good practice. I am fully insured and DBS checked for your peace of mind. These values ensure that I work consistently, with your best interests always at the heart of everything I do.

Creative, Safe, Practical &
             Mindful Space to Discover Self
In The Heart Of Mid Devon

One to One

Individual therapy — sometimes referred to as "psychotherapy" or "counselling" — is a process in which we work together one-to-one in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Together we explore your feelings, beliefs, and behaviours, and work through memories that may be challenging or have had a significant influence on your life.

This can help you identify aspects of your life you would like to change, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and others, set personal goals, and move toward the changes you are seeking.

Each session is guided by you. This is your space — to explore whatever you feel, wherever you need to go.

Innovative

A Fresh Approach: Therapy in Nature

Ecotherapy brings something genuinely different to the therapeutic process — the healing presence of the natural world. Simply put, it's about restoring wellbeing through meaningful contact with nature, and the results can be profound.

I'm fortunate to be based close to the Grand Western Canal and an old railway line, which means I can offer sessions outdoors — walking and talking at a gentle pace, or sitting quietly and letting nature do some of the work. Many clients find that stepping outside the traditional therapy room helps them connect with their emotions more freely, often arriving at new insights and awareness that feel hard to reach indoors.

Ecotherapy can be particularly effective for those living with anxiety or depression, offering a grounding, gentle path toward feeling more like themselves again.

Mental Wellbeing Tips

Now is the time to connect to people around you, build relationships that you can trust and feel safe within them.

Everyday be active, try a walk or find an activity that can become part of your routine.

Where are you? Being mindful in the present moment will help you to build awareness's of where you are in life and help you to make positive changes where you need to.

Independently reach out to find help when needed. This can take a lot of courage so be gentle with yourself within this process.

Don't forget your GP, they will talk with you, helping you to understand different approaches, helping you to make the right choice for you.
