Assisting with personal growth and development at home or work
Newid pronounced "Newith" is Welsh for change. I chose this name not only to reflect my heritage but also to reflect that change is the only constant in life. We all travel with it, yet all our experiences can be profoundly different.
My name is Andy and my career in mental health started with volunteer work for a charity as a support therapist working alongside their resident counsellor gaining invaluable experience for my studies. Throughout my time at the charity I worked with the long term unemployed, assisting ESA clients with long term disabilities including drug and alcohol abuse.
Whilst studying at Petroc I became a volunteer teaching assistant to further develop my confidence and leadership skills. Planning and the delivery of counselling skills to educate and to communicate accurately with a large group of people.
To complete my qualification as a Psychotherapist/ Counsellor my training was within the NHS. This training to become a fully qualified Mental Health Practitioner has proven to deliver some of the most extensive and thorough training to date. This has enabled me to gain experience within, bereavement, anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, drug/alcohol abuse, eating disorders, mental and physical abuse, sexual identification, end of life therapy, disabilities, long term illness and a range of mental health issues. I have also gained a comprehensive insight into an ever-changing large organization, offering practical solutions and being able to successfully deliver integrative therapies, obtaining clarity and balance for those involved.
I am a qualified, experienced therapist. I adhere to a strict ethical framework set out by the BACP (Brisish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and The National Counselling Society (NCS), who continually regulate for good practice. I am fully insured and DBS checked for your own peace of mind.
Adhering to these values ensures that I work consistently, with my client's best interests always forming the structure of my work.
